Bill Compton by hever Bill Compton by hever
I've been in a dry spell. So I whipped this out today in order to try to break the dam.
I'm obsessed with True Blood and I think Vampire Bill is the cat's meow. Me-ow.

Edit- Tweaked a few things and tried to get a pic without a glare.
Edit #2- Tweaked again. Arrrgghhh.

I love this.

I'm a huge fan of the series - but we're still on season 1 in the UK

You really captured him!

Fantastic - I love that its rough - and its oils right?
Could you do Eric too? For me he is the ultimate cat's meow!! But Bill is nice too... I just prefer the giant viking types!!
I think i'm going to have to do some fan art for this series too... lol

Thanks very much. And yes, it is oils.
I just might do an Eric painting--he didn't do it much for me last season, but all of a sudden they gave him quite the personality and I'm totally diggin' it. ;)

Yeah, he didn't have one last season did he - can't bear the wait till the finale.. not too keen on the 'acting' of the queen though...

I know...the wait is almost painful. (I was away for my job for 5 weeks, so I've had to watch this season sporadically--and now that I'm finally home they have to have a gap between episodes. Ugh. They're killing me.)

And yes...I found the queen to be...errr...sub par.

Love the rawness of this painting. That and the colors match his character well. Bill could only be sexier if he talked with his actor's natural British accent!

Thank you very much. Although it was a quick painting, I hoped to capture him through something refined and raw. As for the accent, I would normally agree with you, but I've grown to love his southern twang. :)

Sweet painting. I'm not sure who the character is, but he gives me the creeps. (He kind of looks like Bruce McCulloch from Kids in the Hall... but Evil.)

That's crazy that you did it in Oil. Did you go really heavy on the thinner? It looks really watercolory... or maybe that's just the photo.

Ah, Bill is so awesome.

I guess it's thinly applied...it's just a quicky portrait so there's not really any layering. The photo kind of sucks too...this is the only picture I could get without a glare. I actually just uploaded another picture of it...well...I went to take another pic and then ended up working on it again because I'm insane.

That edit you did definitely makes it more obvious that it's oil... those glares are unfortunate though. haha. I'm impossible to please.

You're impossible to please? I'm the one that keeps futzing with it. And the glare drives me bonkers...maybe I'll give it a few days to dry and we'll see if that lends a better result.

I know, I have so many ideas but no motivation to go through with them. Chris wants me to do an epic painting of him holding a sword like he was going to fight a sea monster.

i know what you mean... like these days i feel like i have half an idea and i can't seem to think of the other half or push myself to do anything... i'm blaming that on my job though. i have no motivation to do shit except guitar... i practice with a metronome now... we'll see how long that lasts

Yeah, exactly. I really don't have motivation to do anything...and I blame that on not having a job. It's like, there's no reason to get out of bed in the morning.
You're awesome at guitar, so it's good that you still do that. The stuff Chris played for me sounds pretty rad.
