Because Snape deserves one.

If Snape isn't in his portrait, he has probably wandered over to his other frame: [link]
He tends to do that every once in a while. He'll be back soon enough.

Oil on Canvas.
8 x 10
Threw it in the antique frame because it fit.

This one didn't take me too long to do. I got the idea when I looked at the promo photo and realized it reminded me of the portrait of Sir Thomas More: [link]
(I've seen this painting in person at the Frick Museum in NYC and it's absolutely phenomenal)

Here are process photos in case anyone is curious: [link]

It's the facial expression and the folded arms that make this Snape. He's angry and unhappy and defensive all at once. You can see him thinking, "I know I don't belong here with the real Headmasters, but anyone who doesn't show me complete respect is going to get his head torn off and sliced up for potions ingredients."

I love it, and I'm impressed by your skill with oils! (and the antique frame just adds to the whole effect)

Thanks for the adding the process photos. It is fascinating seeing how artists approach a painting.

Thanks so much for your comment.
I always try to post progress photos when I can just because I know I always love seeing unfinished works...that's how you really learn about technique. :)
