Oh goodness.... this just makes it look even more amazing. If it were me painting, I would have taken hours on drawing the outline first before doing the painting (and still not get it right)... but you just seem to get the whole painting out of a few sketchy/painty lines and it transforms from there! That's brilliance right there! Thanks for posting this.
That's the beauty of oil painting--it's so malleable. I could never work like that with watercolors. But sometimes I do draw things out or grid them to get the initial drawing correct--on large projects it makes things go much faster (no fussing, just straight up painting!) With small projects like this or oil sketches, it's a bit much to put in all the prep work.

Oil already sounds like such a fuss with all the cleaning and prep. I do wish acrylic took a bit longer to dry though... which is why I'm keeping my eye opened for one of those retarding mediums. Thanks for the insight... it's great to hear what other people do with their art.
I was intimidated by oils at first, but once you learn how to use them properly, it's not really a big deal. I'll never go back to acrylics now...to me, acrylics seem like too much fuss

Across the globe, 27 million men, women, and children live in some form of slavery. That is more people at this moment than in all the centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Something must be done. This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.
