Ooo--are you going to bring this one??? :D It looks like it'd fit the era and general feeling...

*sigh...* I do so envy people who can really paint! :D

Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp,
Or what's a heaven for? All is silver-grey,
Placid and perfect with my art--

Yes...I was planning on it...which is why I wanted to rush to finish it!

Scary, isn't it? ;)

And I'm still not done this paper...maybe we should plan on next weekend if you're free at all?

Indeed it is! ;)

Okay...confess...you've been putting off the paper, haven't you? :P (Er, does that accusation sound like the Voice of Experience? Oh yeah! ;))

Next weekend would be fine, actually--although I'm not sure yet if I'll have to work on Saturday--I'll get back to you on that. I'm definitely free Sunday, though... I'm afraid that this weekend was kind of a bust, painting/work-wise, due to a great big family issue...so I'm REALLY going to have to get my tail in gear, to get things done in time! :/

Incidentally--have you see this photographer/artist's work? She's quite amazing! :iconsarachmet:

Okay...I admit that I've been a little distracted by ABC Family because they've been showing the Harry Potter movies and I've never seen them...so I figured it was a good time to watch them since Chris isn't home to call me a nerd. Otherwise, I've been doing pretty well! I only have a section and a half to finish.

So why don't we plan on next Sunday..and I swear I'll try to get most of my other papers done as not to interfere!

Oh...and when I was in Salem I picked up a little oval antique frame...it's in pretty good condition except someone had painted the whole thing with an ugly gold mat paint....but some of it has chipped away and I can see little blotches of the original gold luster....which makes me think that it's gold-leaf under there. I have no clue how to get that ugly paint off so I can restore it. Some people are absolute idiots!

That photographer's work is lovely...I've watched her. Thanks for the link :)

This is wonderful...reminds me of Lautrec. :)

Well...watching the Harry Potter movies for the first time is a most excellent excuse! :) How'd you like them? I like the first two the best--because I go nuts for the digital grading in them. There's an increasing tendency for certain types of almost-real-but-not-quite colors to be used in films--and I adore it, when it's done well. All colors are saturated, skin tones are rich, pinky-peachy colors (lots of lovely salmon added!)...blue eyes are impossibly, heartbreakingly blue...cheeks have delicate roses in them, and lanscapes are dominated by rich, rich greens, with a bit of magenta added to keep them from looking fake.

Movies that come to mind with that style are the first two HP movies...Love Actually...all Hobbiton scenes in LOTR...King Kong...but as I said, more and more of them are using the style, and it really makes me happy. :)

The later HP films used completely different styles--and I didn't care for it as much...

This coming Sunday works for me! :) Can't wait!

And congrats on your new find! That sounds lovely!!! I wish I could help you with ideas for how to get the old, ugly paint off...but I'm clueless. I'm afraid I'm more of the "paint over" school, if I'm not happy with the original finish (or re-leaf, in this case! ;)). I never do understand, though, why people do daft things like cover gold leaf with gold paint! Huh????

(And glad you liked that photographer! She literally takes my breath away!)

I liked them a lot. I had seen the first one a couple years ago and wasn't that crazy about it, but I remember that I has watched it with a bad attitude...so I figured I'd be a little more open minded now. I could definitely see the difference between the first 2 and the 3rd (I have yet to see the 4th)...but a different director did them, so I'd expect them to be different. It's weird though...I tend to like films that have a muted color...raw and earthy...especially with blue tints. Perhaps that's why I felt so compelled to paint Snape...every scene around him was so dismal...haha.
