And I'm lost in the window, and I hide in the stairway
And I hang in the curtain, and I sleep in your hat...

Ah youre awake! I was afraid you were dead. That would have been rather awful, you know, being tied to a dead man.

A great many open minds should be closed for repairs.
There are tiny bits of this that make me swoon with joy, they're just so *right*...the curve of her wrist and her pinkie, on the hand lying on the blanket...the sketchy bit where the blanket is tucked in around her hips, stretching over her body...the blanket shadow on her side, by her arm...the shading on her lips...her hair (of course!
If not one of your best pieces, this has many things that are just perfect...and I'm enjoying it for all those perfections!

Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp,
Or what's a heaven for? All is silver-grey,
Placid and perfect with my art--

I respect you too much as an artist not to acknowledge that I can see why you aren't crazy about this as an entire image...but let's face it--if we only did work we liked--we'd never grow. (And besides--there are plenty of people out there who aren't as picky as we are--they're going to be happy to see this--so why not let them get some pleasure from your practicing and growing?
I do think that the problems with the image are fairly minor...and they're balanced by all the good points, though. (I'm a dab hand at ignoring problems, and focusing on the good bits--have to be, to get any fun out of my OWN drawings!
There's an artist who did a smashing drawing of Bougeureau's "The Virgin and the Angels"...but he's all down on himself for the parts that didn't work...and although sure, I can see them--overall, the image has so much going for it, that it's quite wonderful. [link] I told him pretty much what I'm telling you--it'd be a shame, not to share it--because the rest of us aren't looking at it with the eagle eye of the creator...we just want to enjoy it!
Oh--and I meant to tell you! We've been featured in a news article!
How cool is THAT??!!!
