Artist's Comments

I figured this painting was simple enough to use for a tutorial.
Hope it helps :)

You make it sound so easy!

Good tutorial. :]

It certainly helps! My masking fluid dries yellow...and some are more transparent and white. I'm thinking of doing more watercolour someday... this certainly cleared up some concerns I had in mind. Thanks for writing it up.

This is really helpful. I'm not too great with watercolors, never was formally trained in them, so I enjoyed this. I think I will try some watercolors over my spring break next week. Do you use watercolor pencils at all? I bought some of those recentlly and enjoy the control that i have with them.

Fantastic tutorial--thanks! :-) (And what a very strange movie that was, too!!! I didn't care much for it, overall...but I loved watching the young boy--he was so fey looking...)

Thanks.
I didn't care much for the movie as well, but I loved the ending and analyzing the character from a psychodynamic perspective.

Good...I'm glad you found it helpful. You'll have to let me know if you submit a watercolor painting.
I've never used watercolor pencils before...but I don't care for colored pencils, so I don't think I'd like them too much. It's just too much control for me.

Plus the boy was quite beautiful. ;)

I was actually intrigued by the film, waiting for the payoff--up until the ending. At that point, it pretty much lost me--it just seemed a bit nihilistic...or perhaps it was just too much of a surprise, what with us really seeing so little of his inner life, up to that point...

Yeah, I've seen the yellow in photos before, but the only kind I've ever used was pink.
I'm glad you find the tutorial useful :)

Yes...Gaspard Ulliel is fantastic....I've developed quite of an infatuation lately...

If you want to see an amazing film, I highly recommend "A Very Long Engagement". He's lovely in it and the story is beautiful.

This was really helpful! I'm inspired to try some watercolors now. :) Thanks for taking the time to do this!
